Chongqing Nengren Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Chongqing Nengren Temple is located on Zhonghua Road in the bustling Jiefangbei business district, surrounded by high-rise buildings. It is the only nunnery in Chongqing.

Nengren Temple was originally named Santang Temple and Haiyun Temple. With a history of more than 300 years, it belongs to the Linji school of Buddhism and is a spiritual lineage of Master Huikai from the Hua Yan Temple. The temple has four main halls, namely the Shuotuo Hall, Guanyin Hall, Ancestral Hall, and Meditation Hall. In 1926, under the tenure of Abbot Nengliang, it transitioned from a family-run temple to a public monastery. Before liberation, the temple housed over ten resident nuns and had numerous followers, with incense burning year-round. Even today, on the first and fifteenth of each lunar month, the temple attracts many worshippers who come to pray and burn incense. The temple also offers simple yet delicious vegetarian meals at affordable prices for visitors at noon.
