Former Site of the Bank of Communications, Chongqing

The former site of the Bank of Communications in Chongqing is a cultural relic protection unit of Chongqing Municipality.

The former site of the Bank of Communications is located at No. 14 Dacopper Street, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. It originally served as the office of the Chongqing branch of the Bank of Communications.

The building faces south and features a mixed construction of reinforced concrete, brick, stone, and wood. It has five main floors above ground, with parts extending to six floors, measuring 22.1 meters in width and 24.5 meters in depth. It includes 57 rooms, covers a total floor area of 2,925 square meters, and occupies a land area of 625 square meters. The architecture is in the Baroque style, with lavish decorations both inside and out.

The building was constructed in late 1935 and was purchased by the Bank of Communications in late 1937, after which it served as the office of the Chongqing branch.

In 2013, the former site of the Bank of Communications was listed as part of the “Chongqing Anti-Japanese War Financial Institutions Site Cluster” in the seventh group of Major National Historical and Cultural Sites in China.
