Former Site of the Chongqing Local Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China

The Former Site of the Chongqing Local Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China is a Chongqing Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism destination.

The Former Site of the Chongqing Local Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China is located at No. 70, Erfuyah Street, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. It is a two-story brick-and-wood building of Sino-Western architectural style, facing east and situated west, with a total floor area of 165.6 square meters.

In 1925, in accordance with the resolution of the Central Committee of the CPC that “a formal party leadership body should be established in Sichuan,” Yang Angong and Wu Yuzhang were responsible for preparing the establishment of the Party organization. By the end of February 1926, with the approval of the Party Central Committee, the Chongqing Local Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China (abbreviated as “Chongqing Local Committee”) was founded. Subsequently, Yang Angong, Wu Yuzhang, Tong Yongsheng, and others led the Chongqing Local Committee to bravely shoulder the glorious mission entrusted by history. In line with the trend of cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party during the Great Revolution, they closely collaborated with the left wing of the Kuomintang, extensively carried out anti-imperialist and anti-feudal mass movements, and achieved the Party’s unified leadership over the revolutionary movement in Sichuan, making Chongqing the center of the revolutionary movement in the province. The “Lushun Uprising” initiated and led by the Chongqing Local Committee not only effectively supported the Northern Expedition but also represented a bold attempt by our Party to independently lead revolutionary armed forces in an uprising.

This site is also the former residence of Yang Angong. The Former Site of the Chongqing Local Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China is a Chongqing Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
