Baixu Maotang is located about 4 km northeast of Baixu Town in Shanglin County. During the summer solstice season, there is usually heavy rainfall, mostly concentrated between noon and evening. Those who want to see a sudden rainstorm can drive here to watch. The sight of rolling thunder and continuous downpours right before your eyes will leave you with unforgettable memories (Maotang is surrounded by mountains, and the sound of thunder and lightning echoes loudly, deafening); additionally, the unique wide-open scenery of Maotang provides viewers with an excellent platform to watch the rain. Apart from summer, when few large birds rest here, other seasons see migratory birds stopping over to recharge before continuing their long journeys. If you want to see these large birds in summer, you must arrive at dawn. From a distance, you’ll spot those white little spirits. Locals never disturb the bird flocks, as birds are everyone’s friends.
