"What’s most beautiful here is the warmth of the people" – Yunlin County unveils a travel book sharing its hidden gems

With the lively Yunlin Agricultural Expo in full swing, visiting Yunlin during the Year of the Horse will be even more fun. The Yunlin County Government has gathered “over 160” insider tips on the best local food, drinks, and activities across the county’s streets and alleys, making it even more enjoyable to explore Yunlin this Lunar New Year. Today (28th), they held a press launch for their new travel guidebook《Yunlin Golden Travel King》The travel guidebook launch event saw Yunlin County Magistrate Su Chih-fen lead a delegation to Taipei to recommend must-visit spots and must-try foods in Yunlin.

Yunlin County Magistrate Su Chih-fen said: "For a long time, Yunlin has been seen as a remote and underdeveloped area, but in fact, it has fertile land and abundant agricultural specialties!" She added that Yunlin’s rice, sweet potatoes, peanuts, and various vegetables rank first in production across Taiwan. Yang Weiren, a travel expert who has explored Yunlin extensively, also noted: "The warmth of the people in Yunlin is unforgettable. Once, I got lost in a small alley, and locals immediately offered to help me find my way. The ‘human touch’ is the most beautiful scenery in my eyes when it comes to Yunlin!"

The travel guidebook 《Yunlin Golden Travel King》 offers a deep dive into Yunlin. Your first stop should be Douliu, home to Taiping Street — a must-visit. The legendary hero Shi Yanwen of Cloud State from Taiwanese puppet shows hails from Huwei, making it a sacred site for puppetry fans. Meanwhile, Xiluo Old Street, Xiluo soy sauce, Xiluo rice, and the Xiluo Seven are all captivating. The thriving incense at Beigang Mazu Temple has burned strong for 300 years, and the western coastline offers a romantic ride by bicycle to admire the sunset over oyster farms. Gukeng is known for its coffee, while Caoling boasts breathtaking natural scenery. Every spring, the purple crow butterfly corridor in Linnei is a sight to behold.
