Tomb of Zhang Pengzhan

The Tomb of Zhang Pengzhan is a cultural relics protection unit of Shanglin County.

The Tomb of Zhang Pengzhan is located in Waiyuntun, Xiajiang Village, Chengtai Township, Shanglin County. It dates back to the Qing Dynasty and is classified as an ancient tomb.

In 1999, the Tomb of Zhang Pengzhan was designated as a cultural relics protection unit of Shanglin County.

Zhang Pengzhan ( ? – 1840 ) was a poet. His courtesy name was Nansong, and he was from Liuxian Village, Xiangxian Township. He was of the Zhuang ethnic group. His great-grandfather, Zhang Honghe, was a renowned Zhuang poet in the early Qing Dynasty; his grandfather, Zhang Youzhu, was a professor at Qingyuan; and his father, Zhang Zi, was an education officer at Quanzhou.

In the 53rd year of the Qianlong reign (1788), he passed the special examination for selection of tribute students and achieved success in the provincial imperial examination that autumn. The following year, he became a presented scholar and entered the Hanlin Academy as a compiler at the Wuying Hall. In the 57th year of the Qianlong reign (1792), he served as the associate examiner for the Yunnan provincial imperial examination, later promoted to imperial censor of the Fujian Circuit, inspecting the southern frontier regions.

Xiajiang Village: Xiajiang Village is located in the northern part of Chengtai Township, downstream of the Cheng River, three kilometers from the Chengtai Township government. A provincial second-class highway encircles the village, providing very convenient transportation. The village consists of 14 natural hamlets, 28 villager groups, 1,146 households, and a population of 4,968.
