The Damiao River Ecological Tourism Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Damiao River Ecological Tourism Scenic Area in Shanglin County, Guangxi, is situated in Liulian Village, Xiangxian Town, Shanglin County. It lies at the northeastern foot of Daming Mountain Nature Reserve, the highest peak in central Guangxi and a national nature reserve. The scenic area covers a total area of over 10,000 mu, with approximately 965 mu designated for construction use, and has a planned investment of about 761 million yuan. The scenic area is 22 kilometers from downtown Shanglin County, borders Binyang County, and is only 16 kilometers from downtown Binyang. It is also about 48 kilometers from downtown Nanning, the provincial capital, and just over 100 kilometers from surrounding cities in central Guangxi such as Liuzhou, Laibin, Guigang, and Yulin. The exit of the under-construction Second Nanning–Liuzhou Expressway in Xiangxian Town is approximately 6 kilometers from the scenic area. Once completed, it will take only about half an hour to reach downtown Nanning.

Shanglin County, where the scenic area is located, was honored on May 20, 2019, with the title of “Global Longevity Township,” becoming the ninth such township in China. Its centenarian rate is 16.53 per 100,000 people, far exceeding the international standard of 7 per 100,000 for longevity regions.

Shanglin County is located in low latitudes and features a subtropical monsoon climate in southern Asia, characterized by mild and moist weather, making it very pleasant. The county enjoys an average frost-free period of 337 days, first-class air quality, and an average negative ion concentration of 20,000/cm³, which is 20 times the World Health Organization’s standard for “fresh air.” It is often referred to as the “Back Garden of Nanning.” The scenic area boasts undulating mountains, beautiful scenery, streams running through it, birdsong and floral fragrance all year round, lush vegetation, and remains an undeveloped pristine ecological zone, offering great potential for eco-tourism investment.

Leveraging the unique natural landscape and cultural resources of the Damiao River, the scenic area has meticulously developed a high-quality, large-scale integrated cultural, tourism, health, and wellness project. The scenic area is mainly divided into four sections: (1) Comprehensive Reception and Service Zone: including projects such as a Folk Culture Exhibition and Sales Service Center, RV Campsite, Children’s Fun Park, Wellness and Elderly Care Community, Eco-resort Hotel, Hot Spring Wellness Area, and Forest Wellness Town. (2) Forest Sports and Experience Zone: featuring attractions such as the Batang Water Park, “Loyalty, Filial Piety, Integrity, and Discipline” Cultural Park, National Football Training Base, Outdoor Adventure Camp, Outdoor Education Base, Guangxi Native Tree Species Display Garden, Forest Culture Sculpture Park, and Tent & Starry Sky Campsite. (3) Stream Rafting and Exploration Zone: comprising the Damiao River Canyon Rafting, Riverside Boardwalk, Rafting Service Base, Water Play Park, Rafting Camping Base, and Forest Boardwalk. (4) Eco-wellness and Vacation Zone: including projects such as the Güzhu Characteristic Folk Village (renovated), Güzhu Wellness Resort Villa, Zhuang Medicine Wellness Center, Food Wellness Research Center, Eco-wellness Service Station, Wellness Culture Creation Salon, Zhuang Medicine Specialty Therapy Hot Springs, Zhuang Medicine Herbal Garden, and Medicinal Herb & Edible Flower Fields. The scenic area is dedicated to creating distinctive tourism brands such as “Natural Wellness, Passionate Rafting; Flower Viewing in March, Fruit Tasting in July.”
