Shantou Agricultural Science Park

Established in 1997, Shantou Agricultural Science Park operates under a "one team, two brands" management system together with the Municipal Agricultural Science Research Institute. It is a municipal-level agricultural research institution located in Jinping District, Shantou, at the intersection leading to Chaozhou and Jieyang. The park covers a total area of 159,400 square meters. Through the display of traditional Chaoshan farming tools, the development of agriculture in the region, and agricultural science and technology, the park offers students and visitors an insight into the history of agricultural development in Chaoshan, thus holding certain historical value.

Major educational facilities include: 1. Science Popularization Gallery: Displays anti-Japanese war photos from “6.21 — Lest We Forget,” as well as images related to agricultural science, ecology, and environmental protection, providing students and tourists with patriotic education. 2. Farm Tools and Machinery Exhibition Hall: By comparing traditional Chaoshan farming tools with modern agricultural machinery, it showcases a series of changes in rural agriculture in the Chaoshan region, serving as a means of patriotic education. 3. Sculpture Corridor of Technological Talents: Features stone sculptures of 30 distinguished scientific and technological figures from ancient to modern times, both in China and abroad, accompanied by biographies, descriptions of their historical contributions, and guided tours to inspire patriotism among young students. The base receives over 200,000 students and tourists annually for patriotic education through exhibitions on agricultural science and technology, traditional farming tools, ecological environments, revolutionary history of Shantou, and agricultural products.

The base employs various methods and forms to continuously expand its educational content. It collaborates with private collectors to display anti-Japanese war photos and organizes the “6.21 — Lest We Forget” memorial event within the Science Popularization Gallery. Educational activities are also conducted for citizens and student groups during “Spring Festival Golden Week,” “May Day,” “National Day Golden Week,” and the peak travel seasons in spring and autumn.

With an investment of over 30,000 yuan, the existing Traditional Chaoshan Farm Tools Exhibition Gallery was renovated and expanded, increasing its area from 90 to 180 square meters. The exhibition now includes over ten additional sets of tools, enriching the displayed content and adding more physical exhibits, thereby presenting a comprehensive and multi-faceted view of the farming conditions of the Chaoshan people in earlier times. The content of 69 promotional panels in the Science Popularization Corridor is regularly updated, covering a total length of over 200 meters. These panels cover topics such as astronomy, geography, history, science and technology, culture, and health.
