Konpeitō is a type of Japanese star-shaped confection made by dissolving rock sugar in water, boiling it down, and then mixing it with wheat flour to create colorful candies. Due to the complex production process, it was once a dessert reserved exclusively for nobility in ancient times. Today, it remains one of Japan’s iconic traditional wagashi (Japanese sweets).
