Former Legislative Yuan President Wang Jin-pyng attended a series of events in Tainan on the 2nd. During his morning visits to the Wu Temple and the Grand Matsu Temple in the West Central District, he commented on the astonishing momentum of Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu’s rally at Ketagalan Boulevard, stating that he is “optimistic about it.” Having previously supported Han’s “Three Mountains” rallies, Wang now faces Han’s challenge in the presidential race. Remaining calm and collected, he said, “Brothers climbing mountains should each do their best,” and noted that on the 6th, he will meet with the KMT’s five-member task force for the presidential primary to offer suggestions on the nomination process.
Wang Jin-pyng visited temples in Tainan on the 2nd and referred to Han Kuo-yu’s high popularity as “something I’m happy about.” He said that Han’s campaign rallies have been lively and well-attended, but he himself will keep fighting without letup, urging everyone to have faith in him and assuring them that with determination, every difficulty can be overcome.
Wang stated that everyone has their own approach to campaigning. He said he is not planning any large-scale rallies, but is instead canvassing votes step by step. He mentioned that on the 8th, he will gather over a thousand campaign officials in Kaohsiung for two outdoor public meetings, and on the 23rd, there will be an 8,000-person gathering in Yunlin.
The KMT will officially announce its list of presidential primary candidates on the 10th. The party’s five-member task force will meet with Wang Jin-pyng on the 6th. He said he will offer suggestions to the five-member group regarding the party’s presidential primary procedures.
