Alien-Themed Restaurant Officially Opens on October 8th – First 80 Visitors Receive Limited Edition Pillows

After much anticipation from fans, the globally adored Japanese character CRAFTHOLIC Aliens have finally opened their first themed restaurant in Taiwan, “CRAFTHOLIC Café.” The walls, seats, tableware, and even the dishes at the café feature the adorable aliens. The alien-themed restaurant officially opens on October 8th, and the first 80 people in line who spend at least NT$300 will receive a limited-edition alien pillow (retail value NT$2,000).

“CRAFTHOLIC” is a group of alien beings from the planet Craft, also affectionately called “aliens” by fans. They come in various forms, including RAB (rabbit type), SLOTH (bear type), KORAT (cat type), LORIS (monkey type), and baby versions—each featuring adorable designs. These characters appeal to people of all ages and genders and were created by Japanese designer Ms. Yamamoto in 2008. After endorsements by Japanese fashion icon Rinka and AKB48, they quickly gained popularity among women worldwide and have remained bestsellers ever since.

To reflect the healing essence brought by the CRAFTHOLIC aliens, the restaurant features a bright white and warm wooden color scheme. Display shelves showcase various alien character goods (not for sale), and each seating area is accompanied by differently patterned alien pillows. Even the chair cushions feature cute alien designs. At the entrance, a cute alien mascot dressed in a blue apron and chef’s hat welcomes guests.

Li Boqing, the operations director of CRAFTHOLIC Café, stated that they have been the Taiwanese agent for CRAFTHOLIC merchandise for years. With the rise in popularity of themed restaurants, fans have long hoped for an official CRAFTHOLIC restaurant. After securing authorization from Japan, they opened this location. Unlike previous pop-up shops in Japan, the Taipei café is a permanent establishment and the world’s first official CRAFTHOLIC-themed restaurant. The interior design, alien-inspired dishes, themed tableware, and all character displays have been personally supervised by the original designer, Ms. Ikuko Yamamoto.

For the main courses, the menu includes pasta, risotto, and burgers. The “RAB beef bourguignon risotto” and “SLOTH curry chicken risotto” are must-try dishes. The “RAB beef bourguignon risotto” uses beetroot extract for coloring, while the “SLOTH curry chicken risotto” uses turmeric to create vibrant yet natural hues for the rabbit and bear characters.

As for the “alien desserts,” they are designed based on the traits of four characters: RAB (rabbit), SLOTH (bear), KORAT (cat), and LORIS (monkey). For example, the “RAB cheese mousse” represents the feminine side of the rabbit character, using white cheese as a base and decorated with colorful sugar crystals and fresh fruit. The “LORIS chocolate mousse” is crafted into the shape of a charming monkey, with a fruit bowtie that reflects the gentlemanly charm of the monkey character.

During the opening period, CRAFTHOLIC Café is also launching a special limited-time event for fans. Ms. Yamamoto has specially designed four super-cute alien cup-sealing characters for the “global flagship store.” Customers who order any “Alien Cup-Sealing Fruit Tea” can take the accompanying alien cup-sealing character home. Quantities are limited.

Finally, for those visiting on opening day, October 8th, the first 80 people in line who spend at least NT$300 will receive a large alien pillow (retail value NT$2,000) on-site. Numbered tickets will be distributed starting at 1:30 PM, one per person, and the pillow designs will be given at random—no selection allowed. Pillows must be claimed on the day of purchase.
