Direct flight to Sendai for wagyu tongue | Taipei–Sendai first flight by Risen Airlines welcomed by cute “Onigiri Maru”

To boost tourism in Japan’s Tohoku region, Risen Airlines has partnered with Japan’s first privatized airport, “Sendai International Airport,” to launch a new direct route between Taipei and Sendai. The inaugural flight took off today (6th) at 06:00 Taiwan time. Passengers on the Taipei–Sendai inaugural flight also received a limited-edition commemorative postcard and a small bear-shaped ID pouch as a gift.

Japan’s Tohoku region boasts a pleasant climate, beautiful scenery, and delicious local cuisine. Sendai wagyu tongue is a favorite among many foodies and has recently become a popular travel destination for Taiwanese tourists. Risen Airlines already operates flights between Taiwan and various Japanese cities including Tokyo (Narita), Osaka, Okinawa, Asahikawa, Sapporo, and Hakodate. To further expand its Japanese flight network and offer travelers more convenient itineraries, starting October 6th, two additional weekly direct flights between Taipei and Sendai will be added.

The inaugural flight departed from Taiwan at 06:00 AM and arrived in Sendai at 10:00 AM. The mascots “Date Masamune Onigiri Maru” and the “Date Warriors Troupe” warmly welcomed the inaugural passengers. Additionally, to celebrate the launch of the Taipei–Sendai route, passengers flying from Taiwan to Sendai on Risen Airlines from October 6th to October 31st can enjoy the popular Sendai souvenir, “Tsukimi” cake, on board. Sendai International Airport also plans to increase the frequency of railway and bus shuttle services next spring to make it easier for independent travelers to explore Tohoku.
