The former site of the Headquarters and Political Department of the National Revolutionary Army’s Eastern Expeditionary Force is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism destination.

The former site of the Headquarters and Political Department of the National Revolutionary Army’s Eastern Expeditionary Force is located at No. 207 Waima Road, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. It was the original headquarters and political department of the National Revolutionary Army’s Eastern Expeditionary Force during the Second Eastern Expedition.

Originally built as a hotel operated by the British in 1924, the former site of the Headquarters and Political Department of the National Revolutionary Army’s Eastern Expeditionary Force is a two-story building constructed with an integrated reinforced concrete framework of beams, slabs, columns, and a brick-wood composite structure. It consists of an eastern and a western building, both identical in design, with each floor covering an area of 355 square meters. The total floor area of both buildings is 1,420 square meters, and the original appearance has been well preserved. In May 1996, the “Shantou Eastern Expeditionary Force Revolutionary Historical Exhibition Hall” was established here, becoming the city’s first thematic museum dedicated to revolutionary history. The museum’s “Eastern Expedition Historical Exhibition” covers an area of approximately 700 square meters, divided into five major sections and displayed across nine exhibition rooms. It showcases 120 historical photographs and 50 replica cultural relics, among other exhibits. In May 2013, it was designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the State Council.
