Temple of Master Song Dafeng

The Temple of Master Song Dafeng is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Temple of Master Song Dafeng is located at No. 7, Lane 8, Huawu Neighborhood Committee, Dahua Subdistrict, Jinping District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. It was first built in 1913, faces south with its back to the north, and is a two-story building constructed with reinforced concrete. The structure has a total width of 10 meters, a depth of 17.2 meters, a height of over 7 meters, and a floor area of 170 square meters. Its main entrance faces the lane, and its exterior walls are inlaid with colorful ceramic tiles. A stone plaque inscribed with “Cunxin Shan’tang Public Hall” is embedded in the wall. The ground floor houses a wooden statue of Master Song Dafeng, and the hall contains a collection of Buddhist statues and ritual implements. Originally the residence of Lin Dazun from Huawu Village, the site was converted into the Temple of Master Song Dafeng—also known as the Cunxin Shan’tang Public Hall—by members of the Shantou Cunxin Shan’tang charitable organization to promote good deeds. The original structure covered an area of about 60 square meters and was rebuilt and completed in 1995. The Huawu Temple of Master Song Dafeng holds certain reference value for the study of the spread of the spirit of charity and generosity embodied by the monk Song Dafeng.
