Ancestral Hall of Sushan

The Ancestral Hall of Sushan is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Ancestral Hall of Sushan is located at Erlifang Ancestral Hall, Lianfeng Neighborhood Committee, Tuolian Subdistrict, Jinping District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty, it faces south with a total width of 7 meters and a depth of 20.2 meters, covering an area of approximately 211.9 square meters, with a built-up area of 141.4 square meters. It features a two-courtyard, one-skywell layout, constructed with earth and timber. Its exterior is topped with a hip-and-gable roof, hipped gable walls, plain unglazed tile ends on the roof, and dripping eaves with cut edges. The main gate has a symmetrical three-door design, built with granite, and bears a stone plaque inscribed with “Ancestral Hall of Sushan” in raised relief above the central entrance. Inside, the structure employs a three-rafter, five-bracket wooden beam system. A wooden plaque inscribed with “Dexin Hall” hangs above the central gate. Square and spindle-shaped stone pillars are used, supported by bottle-shaped plinths. In front of the hall, there is an open courtyard and a pond, each measuring 7.5 meters in width; the courtyard extends 5.4 meters deep, while the pond is 4 meters deep. The entire complex is enclosed by an outer wall. The Ancestral Hall of Sushan is the most well-preserved ancestral hall building in the Liantang area. It holds significant historical and artistic value for the study of ancient Chaoshan architecture and local folk culture.
