On October 10, 2014, the Traditional Residential Architecture Complex of Xudi in Gounan was designated as a cultural heritage site under the protection of Shantou City.

Gounan Community: Gounan Village is situated in the northwest of Jinping District, bordering Hutou Village to the east, facing Shandou Village of Taojiang Subdistrict across a stream to the west, connecting to Yuepu Village to the south, and adjacent to the Shantou-Jieyang Highway to the north. It enjoys convenient transportation and covers an area of 1 square kilometer. Its ancient name was Zifulu. Lush bamboo groves and ancient banyan trees surround the village, along with athletic fields and gardens. A couplet at the village’s eastern gate reads: “Lush bamboo brings auspiciousness, purple turnips herald fortune.” During the Xianchun era of Emperor Duzong of the Southern Song Dynasty, Xu Honglie, the fourth son of Xu Zhaogi from Hanshan, Chaozhou, came here to establish the settlement.
