Introduction

Located in the southern part of the city, it gets its name from its resemblance to a monk’s hat. At an elevation of 650 meters, it is said that observing the changing scenery atop the mountain can reveal shifts in the weather, making it a marvel. During spring, summer, and autumn, the mountaintop is lightly veiled in mist during early mornings and evenings, while in the depths of winter, it is draped in silvery white, presenting a vast and magnificent sight.

Situated due south of Chengde City in Hebei Province, the peak has a relative height of 300 meters and an elevation of 650 meters. Its summit resembles a monk’s hat, for which it was named Sengguan Peak by Emperor Qianlong. The mountain features picturesque landscapes, with Wu Lie River to the east and Jiuhua Mountain to the south, stretching continuously with undulating ridges. During spring, summer, and autumn, clouds and mist rise around the mountaintop in the early mornings and evenings, resembling delicate gauze, offering a fresh and elegant view.
