Huizhou Ancient City

Huizhou Ancient City is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Huizhou Ancient City is located in Huizhoucheng Village, approximately 10 kilometers southwest of Pingquan County, Hebei Province.

The city was built in the 20th year of the Hongwu reign during the Ming Dynasty (1387), and the Huizhou Guard was stationed here. The site is square-shaped, with each side measuring about 900 meters, covering an area of approximately 810,000 square meters. The city walls were constructed from rammed clay, surrounded by a moat about 6 meters deep, and had four gates. Several sections of the ruined walls still remain. Artifacts unearthed here include the “Seal of Shenshan County,” the “Seal of Hui Prefecture,” large pottery basins, large bluish-green glazed jars, and stone lions.

In 2006, Huizhou Ancient City was listed as part of the sixth group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council as an ancient site dating from the Liao to the Ming Dynasties.
