Fengning Lama Mountain Nature Reserve

Lama Mountain is located 28 kilometers northwest of Fengning Manchu Autonomous County and 250 kilometers from Beijing. Originally called Black Mountain, it was renamed Lama Mountain due to the presence of lamas who lived and practiced there. The main peak of Lama Mountain stands at an elevation of 1,198 meters, and the “China’s No. 1 Ice Mortar Park” is situated atop Fozhu Cave. Most of Lama Mountain features exposed granite landforms, which have given rise to numerous peculiar peaks, perilous caves, and unusual rocks, along with many steep cliffs. From a distance, the mountain resembles walls, crenellations, artillery emplacements, and even a natural Great Wall. Stretching over 20 kilometers, the area is dotted with numerous pillar-like peaks, cliffs, meditation caves, strange rocks, and saddle-shaped stone carvings, resembling a picturesque mountain gallery.

The most prominent and outstanding attractions in the scenic area include: Peach Stone, Fozhu Cave, Hole Mountain, Pig Head Stone, Hammer Stone, Hat Mountain, Yin-Yang Stone, Mother and Child, Mountain-Suppressing Seal, Cliff Carvings, Saddle Stone, Lama Cave, and Yuezhu Temple. The Lama Mountain Mountain Gallery is primarily characterized by its rocky landscapes, complemented by a rich Buddhist cultural heritage, giving it a unique charm.
