Covering a total area of 10 square kilometers, the lake is named Moon Lake for resembling a moon embedded in the grassland. Its Mongolian name is Sharanuor Lake, and in Mongolian culture, the sun and the moon are revered as deities.

Moon Lake is a plateau lake situated at an altitude of over 1,000 meters, integrating forests, grasslands, and lakes. Specifically located at an elevation above 1,400 meters, the lake spans over 6,000 square meters with a depth of 6 meters. To its north lies a neat expanse of lush artificial forest, while to its west and south are the Yudaokou Pasture. The TV series "Princess Pearl" used this area as a primary filming base, with most outdoor scenes shot here.
