Longhua Tuchengzi City Site

The Longhua Tuchengzi City Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Tuchengzi City Site is located in Xiawazi Village, Longhua Town, Longhua County, northwest of Chengde City, Hebei Province. The city was first built in the first year of the Yanhe era of the Northern Wei Dynasty (432). During the Sui and Tang dynasties, it was part of the Xiwu region of the Xi Kingdom. Emperor Shengzong of the Liao Dynasty established Beianzhou here, which was later renamed Xingzhou during the Jin and Yuan dynasties, and was eventually abandoned during the reign of the Ming Dynasty's founding emperor, Zhu Yuanzhang. Throughout the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the Liao, Jin, and Yuan periods, this site remained a military stronghold and political-economic center at the northern foot of the Yanshan Mountains. The site covers an area of 0.41 square kilometers, with remnants of the eastern, southern, and northern walls standing 2 to 5 meters high. At the center of the site is a relatively elevated terrace, believed to be the ruins of official buildings.

In 2006, the Tuchengzi City Site was included in the sixth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council as an ancient site from the Northern and Southern Dynasties period.
