Dingzicheng Site

The Dingzicheng Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Xia, Shang, Zhou Dynasties

The Dingzicheng Site is situated on a steep mountaintop approximately 1,500 meters east of Shaoguoyingzi Village, Maolangou Township, Pingquan County. It has an irregular circular shape, with a perimeter of about 315 meters and an area of around 15,000 square meters. The cultural layer is approximately 1.5 meters thick. At the site, several segments of stone walls and ruined foundations can be found. Observations suggest that the site includes both inner and outer walls, spaced about 40 meters apart. The stones used in the construction vary in size but are all made of local bluish-gray slate and slabs, and the width of the wall bases varies.

On July 15, 1993, the Dingzicheng Site was designated as part of the third batch of Provincial Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the People’s Government of Hebei Province. In May 2013, it was listed as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
