The Xinglong Honghe Canyon Rafting scenic area is located in Xinglong County, Chengde City, Hebei Province, at the southern end of the Baimachuan exit on the Chengde–Tangshan Expressway. It is 70 kilometers from Chengde, 35 kilometers from Zunhua in Tangshan, and easily accessible by highway for visitors from Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan, and Chengde, making transportation very convenient. The Honghe Canyon Rafting scenic area is part of the Yan Mountain range. Its geological structure, carved and eroded over millions of years, forms a "U"-shaped canyon belonging to the Danxia landform. It naturally creates a sculpture-like art gallery and is often referred to as the "Little Zhangjiajie."

The canyon is picturesque and majestic, surrounded by undulating mountains, peculiar peaks, and unusual rocks. The steep cliffs of the canyon are rugged and dotted with strange stones, displaying nature’s extraordinary craftsmanship. The riverbed features diverse rocky landscapes, with clear streams that alternate between calm and rapid flows. Lush forests and blooming flowers line both banks, accompanied by the songs of birds. The abundant vegetation along the route, together with crystal-clear streams and secluded springs, create a stunning natural picture that feels like stepping into a paradise or a fairyland on earth.

Honghe Canyon Rafting is a comprehensive eco-tourism destination that integrates leisure, sightseeing, sports exploration, and extreme sports. The full rafting course spans 11.8 kilometers with a natural drop of 103 meters. Due to the terraced geological formations of the Flying Dragon Out of Cave, Buddha-Gazing Canyon, Red Stone Gorge, and Dragon Soaring Gorge, there are 18 sections of rapids and calm river stretches. The Carp Leaping Over the Dragon Gate in the Red Stone Valley and the cascading waterfall in the Dragon Soaring Gorge near Baiyun Temple are thrilling spots for surfing and rafting, offering dynamic and exhilarating experiences with roaring waters that resemble “the Yellow River’s waters descending from the heavens, rushing to the sea never to return.” The calmer sections allow for leisurely drifting amid green mountains and clear waters, gently swaying beneath towering cliffs. “Boats float on the water, people sail through a painting, as if in a fairyland.”

Xinglong Honghe Rafting is a newly developed scenic attraction in recent years. The rafting area features spacious rafting docks with complete service facilities and well-rounded functions.
