Khan's Palace Scenic Area

The Khan's Palace Scenic Area is located within the First Grassland North of Beijing. The First Grassland North lies in the northern part of Beijing, bordering Huairou District, and is 280 kilometers away from Beijing. It is the closest grassland tourism destination to Beijing, with an average summer temperature of 17.5 degrees Celsius. Since ancient times, it has been hailed as a summer retreat. The Khan's Palace Scenic Area covers a total area of 2 million square meters and is a large-scale themed scenic spot integrating services such as historical exploration, sightseeing, entertainment, dining, accommodation, and a film and television base. The scenic area is mainly divided into two parts: the Mongol-Yuan Cultural Exhibition Zone (the Palace Area of Khan's Palace) and the First Grassland North Entertainment Center.

The site where the Khan's Palace Scenic Area is located was historically known as Liangxing during the Mongol-Yuan period. In March 1212 (the seventh year of Genghis Khan’s reign), Genghis Khan led his army to conquer the three states of Huan, Chang, and Fu, gaining control over the Liangxing and Tanshan regions. In 1215, during Genghis Khan’s personal campaign in the Southern Desert, he set up camp here to escape the summer heat and directed military operations against the Jin Dynasty. Drawing on this historical legacy, and in honor of Genghis Khan—the most iconic figure in history—the site was developed into a palace complex named Khan's Palace.

The Khan's Palace not only recreates the grandeur of Genghis Khan’s golden imperial camp from 800 years ago, showcasing the court culture, military culture, and religious beliefs of the Mongol-Yuan era, but also allows visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the glorious history of the Yuan Dynasty, which boasted the largest contiguous territorial expanse in the world, and to experience the rich ethnic and historical culture. It brings the legacy of the ages to the world and lets the world feel the timeless past.
