Fengshan Opera House

The Fengshan Opera House is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hebei Province.

The Fengshan Opera House is located in Fengshan Town, Fengning Manchu Autonomous County, and is an ancient Qing Dynasty structure. On July 23, 1982, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage site by the People's Government of Hebei Province.

Fengshan Town: Located in the eastern part of Fengning County, Fengshan Town borders Gubeikou to the south, connects to Duolun to the north, leads to Chengde and Longhua to the east, and controls the Bashang Grassland to the west. It has long been a strategic military location and is one of the renowned historic towns beyond the Great Wall. According to the Fengshan Town Annals, the town was established in 1645 as a new settlement built on the ruins of a Liao Dynasty earthen city, hence its original name Tuchengzi (Earthen City). In 1736, Tuchengzi was designated as the site of the Siqi Hall administrative office. In 1778, the Siqi Hall was replaced by Fengning County, after which Tuchengzi came to be known as “Fengning.” In 1940, the county seat was moved to Daguo, and Tuchengzi officially adopted the new name Fengshan.
