Chengde Xinglong Mountain Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

This was once a forbidden imperial area of the Qing Dynasty, a true “Houlong” geomantic treasure — a mysterious mountain range sealed off for 254 years (1661–1915).

Spanning 38 square kilometers with a core area of 14.7 square kilometers, Xinglong Mountain Scenic Area features not only unique peaks and extraordinary rocks, but also a magical world amidst sea of clouds. The area is known for its extraordinary landforms, abundant water resources, and is celebrated for its “peculiar peaks, unusual rocks, beautiful waters, and serene valleys.” Its crisscrossing gullies and streams form a natural landscape gallery. Strolling through the mountains, you’ll find stunning scenery and tranquil villages blending in perfect harmony. The scenic area is dotted with diverse and strikingly shaped peaks and rocks, showcasing nature’s masterful craftsmanship. With complex geological structures, rolling mountains, and deep valleys, the millennia-carved Henghe Canyon stretches from north to south, earning it the nickname “Little Zhangjiajie.”

The Xinglong Mountain Scenic Area incorporates a variety of smart tourism features including the Baima River Eco-Parking Lot, visitor transfer center, cliffside plank walkways, sightseeing cable cars, suspended restaurants, a 100-meter elevator, escalators, a 226-meter glass bridge, water feature designs, Class-A restrooms, and a comprehensive signage system — making it one of the largest tourism, leisure, and vacation bases in North China.

The Xinglong Mountain Scenic Area features a 98-meter-high vertical sightseeing elevator, a 226-meter-long fully transparent glass bridge, and even a cable car designed entirely with glass panels for a 360-degree panoramic view. The Longmen Cableway has a slope length of 1,000 meters and a height difference of 180 meters, with each cabin accommodating up to 8 people, and 70% of the equipment imported, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and efficient ascent. The glass bridge hangs at an altitude of 650 meters, spans 226 meters in total, and includes three observation platforms each 6 meters wide. The entire structure uses imported materials with a transparent glass deck, making it a fully glass-constructed bridge. The sightseeing elevator operates in an open-air style, standing 98 meters tall — equivalent to a 30-story building — offering unobstructed, all-around views and a direct, effortless ride to the mountaintop for a sweeping panorama of Xinglong Mountain.
