The Shenxian Valley · Colorful Forest Scenic Area, located in Datang Town, Fengning County, Chengde City, Hebei Province, is a national 5A-level scenic spot built on the Bashang Grassland, covering an area of 20,000 mu.

The Shenxian Valley · Colorful Forest Scenic Area features abundant natural resources such as grasslands, forests, lakes, and hills. With forest coverage as high as eighty percent, the trees and flowers in the forest present different forms and colors with the changing seasons — this is also the origin of the name “Colorful Forest.”

The Shenxian Valley Colorful Forest is situated on the Bashang Grassland in Fengning Manchu Autonomous County, Chengde City. The Bashang Grassland, also known as the “First Grassland North of Beijing,” is located within Hebei Province and specifically refers to the elevated belt formed by the abrupt rise of the grassland. Due to its climate and vegetation, it has developed into a meadow-style grassland. It is referred to as the Bashang Grassland region, located about 100 kilometers north of Chengde.

The Bashang Grassland is an important part of the Bashang Plateau, situated at the junction of the Inner Mongolia Plateau and the southern foothills of the Greater Khingan Mountains. With an average altitude of 1,500–2,100 meters and an average temperature of about 1.4–5 degrees Celsius, it spans Fengning Manchu Autonomous County and Weichang Manchu and Mongol Autonomous County in Chengde City, as well as Zhangbei County, Shangyi County, Guyuan County, Chongli District, and Kangbao County in Zhangjiakou City.

In terms of tourism regions, the Bashang Grassland mainly consists of areas such as the First Grassland North of Beijing and the Grassland Sky Road. It is an important component of the Inner Mongolia Plateau. Among them, the Fengning Bashang Grassland is located in Fengning Manchu Autonomous County, Hebei Province, directly north of Beijing, making it the nearest natural grassland to Beijing, also known as the “First Grassland North of Beijing.”

The Bashang Grassland has a temperate monsoon climate, with long winters and cool, pleasant summers free from intense heat. The average temperature in July is 24 degrees Celsius. With lush water and grass, it is a richly beautiful region where winter and summer are distinctly different, and mornings and evenings offer varying sceneries. It is the top choice for travel, leisure, summer retreats, and vacations in northern China.

The main attractions of the Shenxian Valley Colorful Forest include the Manchu Culture Exhibition Hall, Five-Colored Pool, Deer Park, Listening to the Rain Pavilion, Secluded Corridor, Viewpoint Deer Park, and Steps on the Treetops, among many other distinctive sites.
