Zhangjiajie Areca Valley

Areca Valley is located in Luotaping Township, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, and refers to the outdoor routes in this township. Luotaping Township lies in the southwestern border of Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City, 56 kilometers from the city center. It borders Wentang Town to the east, Qing’anping Township to the north, and stretches from east to west, connecting with six townships in Yongshun County, including Runya.

Connecting the nine villages of Areca Ping, Yiwan Shui, Yanjing, Huangtujie, Siguanyu, Luotaping, Taiping, Shuitianping, and Qujiabao into a loop, the area within forms the range of the Areca Valley outdoor “park.” This is a region rich in both Zhangjiajie landform and karst landforms, with forest and grassland coverage exceeding 80%. Here, towering stone pillars, as if hewn by blades and axes, pierce the sky, while sheer stone walls stretch for miles. These stone walls have openings that lead into deep, seemingly endless karst cave mazes.
