King Nan of Zhou, also known as Yan Sui (314–256 BC), is said to be buried at the Tomb of King Nan in Dingjiarong, Yongding District. The *Wanli-era Cili County Annals* states that the tomb is situated 10 li to the west of the city: "In the 59th year of King Nan's reign, the Qin attacked Zhou. Fearing Qin’s advance, King Nan surrendered and offered territory, and he died in that same year, leading to the fall of the Zhou dynasty. It is said that the Qin, wishing to avoid honoring him, did not allow his burial within their territory." The *Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty*...<直隶澧州志）载：“周赧王墓，县西十五里，有赧王山，中有大冢，封殖甚高，周列小冢四十余，或云殉葬宫嫔也”。唐王维《赧王墓》诗云：“蛮烟荒雨自千秋，夜邃空余鸟雀愁，周赧不辞-恨，却怜孤墓近獾兜。”（按：周赧王墓与崇山獾兜墓遥遥相对，故谓“近骧兜”）。宋洪迈载：“澧州慈利周赧王墓，傍五里山堆，盖古冢也，其中藏器物甚多，余歼宰是色，得一镎，高一寸二分，阔寸一分，并尾长五十五分，重十三斤。赧王墓周列的小冢，清光绪《永定县乡土志》载：“有四十入堆，在孟家坪，东西罗列，错落如星，高约丈余，圆径倍之，传为周赧王葬宫嫔处。又传为宋时征驻屯为营，此遗址也”。并谓：“县藏虎錞者，余所见，如聂氏、楚氏、王氏有此物。”据文物调查，四十八堆在今张家界西郊，为四十八座大型战国墓。
