The Chengbeixi Site is a protected cultural heritage site of Hubei Province.

Chengbeixi Site

Located about 500 meters northeast of Wujiagang Village, Honghuatao Town, Yidu City, the site covers an area of approximately 1,000 square meters, with a cultural layer about 2 meters thick. It is the type site for the Chengbeixi Culture. Excavations were conducted in 1983 and 1984. Ash pits and ditches were found. Unearthed Neolithic stone tools include axes, adzes, chisels, balls, and net sinkers, while bone tools include needles, awls, and drills. Neolithic pottery is mainly composed of coarse red-brown sandy ware, followed by carbon-tempered gray-brown ware, with a small amount of fine red-brown clay ware. Decorations include cord marks, impressed patterns, incised lines, and perforations. Vessel types include jars, cauldrons, basins, plates, bowls, cups, and pedestals. Shang Dynasty stone artifacts found include axes, adzes, chisels, axes (yuè), and mallets; pottery is dominated by coarse gray sandy ware, followed by coarse red-brown sandy ware, with a small number of fine gray and black wares. Decorations feature cord marks and string patterns, with vessel types such as goblets, jars, pots, dou (bean-shaped vessels), lamps, and lamp-stand-like objects. (Third Batch)

Wujiagang Village: Located adjacent to the Yihua First-Class Highway in Honghuatao Town, Wujiagang Village is the site of the Neolithic Chengbeixi Culture from the Yangtze River Basin. The village covers a total area of 5.37 square kilometers, with 4,310 mu of citrus orchards. It has one Party general branch and three subordinate Party branches, with a total of 101 Party members.
