The Linglong Gorge Scenic Area lies within the expansive wildlands of Yuan'an, covering 186 square kilometers of dense forests, bamboo thickets, ancient towering trees, unique flowers, and rare plants, boasting a vegetation coverage rate of over 95%. The landscape is shaped by 400-million-year-old Ordovician limestone, forming an enclosed canyon with towering cliffs and jagged rocks. Along its 10-kilometer river valley, the rushing waters feature more than 20 rapids, especially the near-90-degree “Linglong Big Bend,” which is renowned for its thrilling uniqueness and hailed as the “No. 1 Rapids Turn in the Three Gorges.” The area is also the birthplace of China’s “Yasi” silk culture, where ancient mulberry fields still retain their historic charm. In the town of Goujiaya, a stone-paved street made from ancient Sinian fossil fragments is regarded by tourism experts as the “No. 1 Fossil Street in China.” It is reported that the Linglong Gorge Scenic Area has been developed to meet the standards of a national AAA-level tourist attraction and has been listed as a featured destination within the Three Gorges Tourism Circle.

Linglong Gorge is situated on the upper reaches of the Xih River in Yuan'an County. It is a closed canyon just 2 kilometers away from Provincial Highway Bao (Baokang) – Yi (Yichang). The gorge is lined with steep cliffs, crisscrossing precipices, rich vegetation, rare blossoms, and countless ancient trees. Over the course of the 10-kilometer rafting journey, the river flows vigorously with more than 20 rapids, each closely followed by a calm pool.
