Liangzi Island

Liangzi Island is a quaint little island in the center of Liangzi Lake, covering an area of about 2 square kilometers. It has long been known as the "dreamy water town," the "waterborne Penglai," and the "land of idyllic beauty." Located at the heart of a region encompassing one city and six districts including Jiangxia District, it enjoys a central location that connects east to west and links south to north, offering convenient transportation. Liangzi Lake stretches 82 kilometers from east to west and 22 kilometers from north to south, consisting of 316 lake branches, with a water surface area of 80 million square meters, a drainage basin of 3,260 square kilometers, and an average depth of 3 meters throughout the year. To the north, a 45-kilometer-long channel connects it to the Yangtze River, and water from Liangzi Lake flows into the Yangtze via this 90-li-long channel. The lake area enjoys a pleasant climate and boasts a sound ecological environment, rich in diverse flora and fauna — there are 137 species of birds and 105 species of fish, earning it the reputation of being an "underwater forest and paradise for birds." Surrounded by water on all sides and shaped like a water chestnut, the island covers an area of 2 square kilometers and is hailed as a "land of idyllic beauty," a "dreamy water town," and a "waterborne Penglai." With a long history and numerous historical sites, the area flourished in pottery production during the Tang and Five Dynasties periods; during the Three Kingdoms period, it served as a military training ground for the Wu Kingdom; and in the Ming and Qing dynasties, it thrived as a hub of waterway commerce with merchants gathering here, earning it the nickname "Little Hankou." The island enjoys a mild climate, lush forests, and is free from air, water, and noise pollution, thus being known as the "Island of Longevity." The island features both vast fertile plains and picturesque rolling hills, with beautiful scenery and a rich cultural heritage. Its many natural and cultural attractions provide visitors with ideal places for leisure and sightseeing.
