The former residence of Guo Tianmin is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Former Residence of Guo Tianmin

It is located in Guo Shoujiu Village, Xinghua Township, Hong'an County. Guo Tianmin (1905–1970), a native of Hong'an, enrolled in the sixth class of the Whampoa Military Academy in 1926, joined the Communist Party in 1927, and participated in the Guangzhou Uprising the same year. He was awarded the rank of General in 1955. The residence faces west, features three bays in width and one bay in depth, and covers a construction area of 61.6 square meters. It is built with a brick-and-wood structure, single-eave hip-and-gable roof, and covered with clay tiles. The former residence witnessed Guo Tianmin’s upbringing and holds significant commemorative value. Meanwhile, as a traditional residential building, it also provides certain research value for the study of the region’s traditional architecture.

General of the People's Liberation Army (awarded in 1955). Originally named Guo Jikui. Born in 1905 in Guo Shoujiu Village, Shili Township, Huang'an (now Hong'an), Hubei. Descendant of the famous Tang Dynasty general Guo Ziyi. As the eldest grandson of the Guo family, he received support from the family ancestral hall to attend the county agricultural school and the affiliated middle school of Zhonghua University in Wuchang. Influenced by progressive ideas, he became dissatisfied with the social conditions of the time. In 1925, he returned to his hometown to teach and participate in the peasant movement.
