The earthquake ruins of the Tangshan Ceramics Factory office building are located in Lubei District, Tangshan City. On July 15, 1993, they were designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

At 3:42:53 AM on July 28, 1976, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Tangshan City. Buildings collapsed, chimneys snapped, the ground deformed, sand and water erupted, roads cracked, railway tracks bent, derricks tilted, river channels were blocked, and the century-old industrial city was flattened in an instant. The severity of the disaster and the scale of the losses were unprecedented in history. After the earthquake, with the approval of the State Council, seven earthquake ruins sites were preserved: the Tangshan Iron and Steel Company Club, the Tangshan Ceramics Factory Office Building, the Casting Workshop of the Tangshan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Plant, the surface displacement in the courtyard of Tangshan No. 10 Middle School, the tree-line displacement on Jixiang Road, the garage of the Food Company on Tangbai Road, and the library building of Hebei Mining and Metallurgy Institute (now Hebei University of Technology). Among them, the best-preserved earthquake ruin site is the former library building of Hebei University of Technology.
