Xinhua News Agency, Shijiazhuang, October 14 (Liu Mingyi) — On the 14th, reporters learned from the Hebei Provincial Tourism Bureau that the 2013 National Mass Mountain Climbing and Fitness Conference (Qianxi Station) and the “Tangshan Jinxin Cup” National Mountain Climbing Competition will take place on October 22 at the Qing Shan Guan scenic area, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction in Qianxi County, Tangshan City.
It is understood that the theme of the 2013 National Mountain Climbing and Fitness Conference (Qianxi Station) is “Meet in Qianxi, Get Close to Nature.” This event has been approved by the General Administration of Sport of China and is jointly organized by the Mountaineering Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau. It is hosted by the CPC Qianxi County Committee, the People’s Government of Qianxi County, and the Tangshan Municipal Sports Bureau, with co-organization by the Qianxi County Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau, the Qianxi County Tourism Bureau, and others.
It is reported that the Qianxi Qing Shan Guan scenic area, where the 2013 National Mountain Climbing and Fitness Conference will be held, is also the venue for the national mountain climbing competition. The climbing finish line is at Bāmiàn Fēng (Eight-Sided Peak), the highest peak in Tangshan, with an altitude of 842 meters.
According to the organizers, this event mainly consists of two parts: a mass participants’ mountain climbing activity and a professional athletes’ mountain climbing competition. Among them, the national professional athletes’ mountain climbing competition will see 200 athletes from across the country competing in four categories: adult men and women aged 18–35 and 36–60.
The 2013 National Mountain Climbing and Fitness Conference is organized by the Mountaineering Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Chinese Mountaineering Association. It has been held for 11 consecutive years, with 18 stations set up nationwide, attracting nearly one million participants each year.
