Luoyang International Peony Garden

The International Peony Garden is the largest late-blooming peony garden in the Central Plains region and a showcase of premium peonies from China and abroad. The garden cultivates over 300 domestic peony varieties, more than 100 varieties from Japan, France, the United States, and other countries, as well as over 300 Chinese peony (Paeonia lactiflora) varieties. The blooming period here is one to two weeks later than in downtown Luoyang, making it the best place to admire flowers during the “Luoyang Peony Festival” and the “May Day Golden Week.”

The International Peony Garden consists of six major areas: Chinese Peonies, Overseas Peonies, Late-Blooming Peonies, Famous Peony Varieties, and Production Demonstration. It features dozens of scenic spots such as the Nine-Colored Peony Mural, Twenty Rare Antique Peonies, Wild Peony Cluster, Cold-Resistant Peonies, and Automatic Sunshades. The garden showcases not only the magnificent Luoyang peonies and dazzling Japanese varieties but also American and French golden peonies that bloom multiple times a year.

The garden also has nearly a thousand cold-resistant peonies that bloom in early winter, with the main viewing period from mid- to late December each year.

The flower viewing season runs from mid-April to mid-May each year.

Discounted tickets are available from Monday to Friday at 80% off, which is 40 RMB per person. Children under 1.2 meters tall are admitted free of charge. Groups of 10 or more enjoy a discounted rate of 25 RMB per person. Seniors aged 70 or above can enter for free with a Senior Citizen ID or ID card. The garden also offers two types of monthly passes for local residents: an all-day monthly pass at 50 RMB per person and a weekday monthly pass at 30 RMB per person.

Driving Directions:

① Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway: Exit at “Luoyang Toll Station,” drive about 3 km toward the city center, turn right at the first large roundabout (Airport Road Roundabout), and you’ll reach the garden after 100 meters.

② Er’guang Expressway: Drive to the junction with the Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway, then head toward “Luoyang” or “Xi’an.” Exit at “Luoyang Toll Station,” drive about 3 km toward the city center, turn right at the first roundabout (Airport Roundabout), and you’ll reach the garden after 100 meters. Alternatively, you may exit at “Baima Temple Toll Station,” drive west along National Highway 310 to “Guohua Road,” turn right, drive 2 km, and pass 100 meters west of the Airport Roundabout. ③ Ningbo–Luoyang Expressway: Drive to the junction with the Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway, then head toward “Zhengzhou.” Exit at “Luoyang Toll Station,” drive about 3 km toward the city center, turn right at the first roundabout (Airport Roundabout), and you’ll reach the garden after 100 meters. ④ From downtown Luoyang: Drive along “Wangcheng Avenue,” cross National Highway 310, go straight to the “Airport Road Roundabout,” turn left, and you’ll reach the garden after 300 meters.

Bus Routes:

Luoyang Beijiao Airport is 3 km from the scenic area. You can take Bus 83 or a taxi.

Luoyang Railway Station is 6.8 km from the scenic area. Take Bus 83 and get off at the “Airport Road Wangcheng Avenue Intersection” stop, which is right at the entrance of the peony garden; alternatively, take a taxi.

Zhongzhou Middle Road is 9 km from the scenic area. Take a bus and transfer to Bus 27 or 83; alternatively, take a taxi.
