【Stunning Beauty】Prague – Travelogue Sharing

Prague has been a dream for many people, and this dream has been mine for ten years. Why this city has become the dream of so many still remains a question I haven’t found an answer to. Ten years ago, there was already a travel book about Prague at home. At that time, having never been to Europe, the photos of the Old Town’s architecture deeply captivated me. Actually, I didn’t have much of a concept of Europe back then—I just told myself that when I eventually went to Europe, I definitely had to visit Prague. Back in college, I felt that Europe seemed out of reach, so I didn’t think any more about it. After starting work, I moved to the UK, and after settling down, I suddenly remembered this long-cherished dream, and felt I should try to realize it.

A street concert in the Old Town Square—when you come to Prague, you definitely have to catch a street concert.

Astronomical ClockPrague Astronomical Clock

It is Prague’s most popular attraction, located at the Old Town Hall, where every hour on the hour you can see the clock’s little figures come out

After watching the clock show, it was still early, so I climbed up the Astronomical Clock tower

From the Astronomical Clock, you can see a panoramic view of Prague. I was lucky enough to be there at sunset, and also lucky that the weather was fantastic, allowing me to witness an incredibly beautiful sunset.

After dinner, I passed by the Old Town Square and enjoyed the night view.

On the second morning in Prague, the weather was perfect, so I set off for Prague Castle

Finally, we visited the last site in Prague, Clementinum, which now houses the National Library of the Czech Republic. I thought it would be hard to find, but it turns out to be right behindHostel . Entry to the college requires joining a guided tour. The only thing I knew about this college was its famous Baroque Library, but because the books inside need protection, we could only view it from the entrance and were not allowed to take photos.

I came to this college specifically to see the Baroque Library,Barokní Knihovnathinking only the library was open to visitors. Unexpectedly, we could keep climbing up and explore some instruments in the Astronomical Tower. The tour guide was a Czech uncle who initially seemed very serious and his accent was a bit hard to understand. But then he asked where we were from and suddenly started chatting with us in Mandarin. It turned out he had studied in Beijing and also visited Taiwan. He also told us he speaks German, Russian, and other languages — turns out he’s quite an impressive person. At first, I thought he was very stern, but he actually turned out to be really witty. Later in the tour, he became more and more amusing and excited. At the top of the tower, we could quietly enjoy the view of Prague, with clear sights of both the Castle District and the Old Town.
