Xinyang Chuwang City is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province.

Chuwang City Xinyang City, Pingqiao District

Generally refers to the commercial area of Chuwang City in the urban district. Additionally, historically, six ancient city ruins named "Chuwang" have been discovered in Henan, Hubei, and Hunan provinces. Also known as Chengyang City, it is the best-preserved and largest among the six existing Chuwang Cities in China. The Republican-era "Supplementary Chronicles of Xinyang County" recorded: "Chuwang City is sixty li north of the county, bordering the Pinghan Railway to the east. It is said to be a place where the King of Chu stationed troops during the Spring and Autumn period. The city is about forty zhang in length from east to west, slightly longer from north to south, with remnants of the foundations still visible. The moat on the southeast side is over ten zhang wide and approximately two zhang deep." This city is said to have been built when King Wu of Chu conquered Shen, and was then called "Chengyang."
