Huanghua Ridge

: A northern peak of Jiufengjian, part of the main range of the Dabie Mountains, stretching about 5 kilometers in length. The summit features gently sloping terrain covered with wild grass, offering expansive views where one can admire the scenic beauty of both Henan and Anhui provinces. Legend has it that this is the site of the first uprising led by the Yellow Flower Emperor (a peasant boy from the Southern Song Dynasty whose mother dreamed of a field of yellow flowers and a yellow dragon turning into smoke and entering her mouth before giving birth to him, earning him the childhood nickname “Huanghua.” As he grew up, he became exceptionally intelligent and despised the corruption of the officialdom. To save the local people, he raised an army to rebel against the court, proclaimed himself emperor on Huanghua Ridge, and was later known as the “Yellow Flower Emperor”), hence the name.
