Leishi Osmanthus Tourism Area

The Leishi Osmanthus Tourism Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

The osmanthus cultivation in Xileishi Village, Luoxi Subdistrict, Linyi High-Tech Zone, Shandong Province — known as the "Hometown of Osmanthus" — has a history of over 600 years. About eighty percent of the growers bear the surname Qian. The Leishi osmanthus was introduced and improved from the south during the Ming Dynasty's Wanli era by Master Qian Jidao, who can be regarded as the "pioneer" of northern osmanthus. To commemorate him, the Linyi Qian family restored and rebuilt the Shandong Qian King Ancestral Hall (originally the Qian Family Ancestral Hall), which enshrines their distant ancestor Pengzu, founding ancestor Qian Wang of the Wuyue Kingdom, and Qian Jidao, the pioneer of transplanting southern osmanthus to the north.
