The Zhili Judicial Court began construction in the 33rd year of the Guangxu reign (1907) during the Qing Dynasty and was put into use in the 2nd year of the Xuantong reign (1910). It marks an important milestone in China’s transition from a feudal judicial system to a modern one and holds significant value in the history of Chinese legal development. In 1935, the Hebei Provincial High Court was stationed here, and it later served as the office site of the Baoding North City District Government. In October 2008, the building was designated as a Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Hebei Province. In May 2013, it was listed as part of the seventh group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units. According to relevant sources, this court once tried high-profile cases such as the “Liu Qingshan and Zhang Zishan Serious Embezzlement Case.”
