Multiple ways to enjoy Kaohsiung ! Winter is the perfect time to visit — come now

This year, the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau's “Winter Warm-Up in Kaohsiung” campaign offers a rich selection of recommended travel itineraries, highlighting two major events: “2016 — Come for Sightseeing ! The Charming Linyuan & Daliao” and “2017 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival.” Special recommendations include “New Land, Sea & Air Experiences,” “Hands-On Workshops,” and “Themed Hidden Gems,” along with “Lazy Travel Itineraries” and “Energetic Harbor City Special Routes” for visitors’ reference.

The first major event of this winter is “2016 — Come for Sightseeing ! The Charming Linyuan & Daliao.” Visitors to Daliao can cycle through scenic farmlands, experience the rural charm of agricultural communities such as Wengyuan, Xiliao, Liuchiu, and Sanlong, and head to Linyuan to explore the life of seaside fishermen — try net fishing, woodblock printing, and visit the Marine Wetland Park to see jellyfish and watch the sunset.

Another highlight event, the “2017 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival,” features not only traditional, creative, and religious lanterns competing in beauty, but also a waterfront theater and a bar street along the Love River. The grand finale is the spectacular lantern parade, where performance troupes and floats from home and abroad make Kaohsiung come alive every year. The Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau invites all travelers across Taiwan to join the “Charming Lantern Tour” in Kaohsiung. By using convenient transportation options such as double-decker buses, light rail transit, the new Qi Cruise, and city buses, you can enjoy the fantastical light show at the Dome of Light, stroll around Lotus Pond in Zuoying, watch the sunset at Qijin Bay, and take in the panoramic view of the Asia New Bay Area at night from the Ferris wheel. Not just the banks of the Love River — the entire harbor city promises beauty and excitement !
