Five floral zones bloom together – Taoyuan Flower Color Festival at its most vibrant

The 2nd Taoyuan City Flower Color Festival in 2016 unfolds successively across five districts: Zhongli, Daxi, Luzhu, Dayuan, and Pingzhen. This year, each of the five exhibition areas showcases its distinctive charm — Zhongli with a sporty vibe, Daxi with a leisurely atmosphere, Luzhu with an artistic, hipster style, Dayuan featuring a rural theme, and Pingzhen presenting a playful twist. The festival includes large-scale installations, flower seas, and community mini-tours, combined with rural markets to allow visitors to experience the unique appeal of each floral zone.

Taoyuan is the kingdom of floral crops, producing about 90% of Taiwan’s ornamental flowers. The first Flower Color Festival coincided with fallow farming seasons, prompting flower farmers to grow drought-resistant ornamental crops, attracting around 250,000 visitors. This year, the festival has invited artists from the Land Art Festival to create large installations that showcase community development achievements, offering residents and visitors a fresh experience.

Held near the Taoyuan International Baseball Stadium, the Zhongli area adopts the theme “Love Fun Home,” showcasing a home-themed setting with a rainbow of colorful flower fields, along with the artworks “Abundant Grass. Bali” created by artists Liao Bosen and Chen Yongchang.

Starting in Yuemei Village in Daxi District, the area takes “Exploring the Back Garden” as its theme, highlighting local specialties such as spinning tops and tree totems. It also collaborates with artist Kao Ching-jung and the Yuemei Leisure Agriculture Development Association to present the artwork “Flower Sea Stars, Welcomers” displayed at the event venue. In addition, the festival invites Xu ?, the creator of the 2016 Taoyuan Land Art Festival piece “Thank You, Many Crabs,” to showcase the large floral installation “Flower, Crab, Guest.” The artwork can also be seen at the event venue.
