Introduction: The Tangshan scenic area is currently a national AA-level tourist attraction. It integrates natural resources with cultural and historical landscapes, combining mountains, temples, springs, rivers, and villages, as well as the cultures of Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism. When Jiang Ziya was enfeoffing the gods, this place was called Huangshan. Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty, Li Yuan, built a royal temple here and renamed the mountain Tangshan. During the Yuan Dynasty, it became known as Tashan due to the presence of an 11-story twin pagoda, and in the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was called Jiuding Lotus Mountain because the mountain features nine peaks encircling it like stars surrounding the moon or a blooming lotus. ① The area is covered with lush pines and cypresses that block out the sun, creating a serene environment that forms the famous natural landscape “Tangshan Layered Greenery.” There are seventy-two springs on the mountain, and the vast expanse of “alpine wetland” is a rare and unique geological phenomenon in northern China. Below the mountain lies the Yi River Scenic Water Park, which features a vast water surface blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. ② The area contains numerous religious and cultural relics, including the Tangshan Temple, cliff carvings from the Tang Dynasty, the Jade Emperor Hall, the Zhizheng Ancient Stele, and the Shang-Zhou Dong’an Ancient City. Among these, the Tangshan Temple was a royal temple from the Tang Dynasty. The Guanyin Pavilion inside the temple houses 22 crystal Guanyin statues, representing all the different images of Guanyin from various periods, making it the only crystal Guanyin series in China. The Tang Dynasty cliff carvings, situated on steep cliffs, consist of 503 statues—the large quantity and scale of which are rare throughout the province. This site is also where real historical events such as the Ju-Lu Alliance Meeting and Li Kui fighting a tiger took place. ③ The Dragon Culture Exhibition Park is the only cultural landscape in China that provides a detailed introduction to the historical evolution and inheritance of dragon culture, showcasing over 200 types of dragon totems and patterns from five thousand years of Chinese history.
