Jiuding Lotus Mountain Cultural Scenic Area
The Jiuding Lotus Mountain Cultural Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.
The Jiuding Lotus Mountain Cultural Scenic Area consists of four zones: Mituo Temple, Lotus Peak, Yihedongli Water Park, and Canglong Ridge, covering a total area of 4.79 square kilometers. A series of historical relics such as cliff carvings and ancient steles from the Zhìyuán era showcase its profound historical culture and flourishing ancient civilization. Legend has it that this place was called Huangshan when Jiang Ziya granted titles to deities; during the reign of Emperor Gaozu of Tang, Li Yuan, a royal temple was built here, and the mountain was renamed Tangshan. According to the Records of Shaolin Temple, eminent monks from Shaolin practiced here during the Tang Dynasty, and it was listed as a branch monastery (East Shaolin) of Shaolin. In the Yuan Dynasty, an eleven-story twin pagoda was constructed, and the mountain became known as Pagoda Mountain. The scenic area features numerous attractions including Sui and Tang cliff carvings, Mituo Temple, thousand-year-old ginkgo trees, the Jade Emperor Hall, Zhìyuán ancient steles, the Shang and Zhou-era Dong’an Ancient City, West Temple, and the former site of the Kuomintang Shandong Provincial Government. Stories such as the alliance between Ju and Lu states and Li Kui fighting a tiger took place here. The scenic area seamlessly integrates "mountains, temples, springs, rivers, and villages," making it a sacred destination for cultural tourism and leisure vacations.
