Xiguzhuang Site

The Xiguzhuang Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Shandong Province.

The Xiguzhuang Neolithic Site is located on a mountain plain about 250 meters southeast of Xiguzhuang Village, Dazhangzhuang Township, Yiyuan County. It covers an area of 10,000 square meters. It has not been formally excavated. During the 1984 cultural relics survey, relevant personnel successively collected relatively well-preserved pottery zun with sand inclusions, pottery gui (tripod cauldrons), yan (ancient cooking utensils), ding (tripods), jars, and some fragments of eggshell-thin pottery. Based on the characteristics of the artifacts, experts have identified that the Xiguzhuang Site spans two major Neolithic periods: the Dawenkou Culture and the Longshan Culture. Among the ancient cultural sites discovered in China to date, this is quite rare. Therefore, it holds significant archaeological value. In June 1997, the site was designated as a municipal-level key cultural relics protection unit.

In 2013, the Xiguzhuang Site was announced by the People's Government of Shandong Province as part of the fourth batch of provincial-level cultural relics protection units in Shandong Province.
