The Zouping Yellow River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Zouping Yellow River Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Shandong is located from the former site of Huangjia Village in Matou Town in the northwest to the former site of Beidong Village in Taizi Town. Built along the majestic Yellow River embankment, it spans a planned area of 300 square kilometers.

The scenic area capitalizes on the advantages of Yellow River engineering and water-soil resources, actively developing the “One Belt, Three Zones” project — the Yellow River Green Ecological Sightseeing Belt, Ladder Dam Yellow River Scenic Area, Matou Leisure Agriculture & Rural Tourism Zone, and Taizi Ancient City Culture & Eco-Picking Zone. The Yellow River section within the scenic area features both wandering and transitional characteristics. The river’s sediment accumulation has formed a “hanging river” section above ground level, which is a major highlight of the area. The water conservancy projects in the scenic area include a 22-kilometer-long levee along the Yellow River, one dangerous work site, three control and guidance projects, and two Yellow River water diversion sluices. Among them, the Ladder Dam dangerous work site earned its name due to its resemblance to a ladder stretching across the Yellow River and is hailed as the “No. 1 Dangerous Work Site on the Yellow River,” serving as the iconic project of the scenic area. The area integrates tourism, leisure, vacation, and science education, making it an ideal destination for self-driving tours.

Matou Town: Located in the northwest of Zouping County, Matou Town borders Weiqiao Town and Taizi Town to the east, and Zhangqiu City to the west and south. To the north, it faces Jiyang County across the Yellow River. Situated at the junction of three counties, its geographical position is unique. The town center is 36 kilometers from the county seat, 40 kilometers from Jinan City, 30 kilometers from Jinan International Airport, and 10 kilometers from the Jiqing Expressway.
