Zouping Sunjia Site

The Zouping Sunjia Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Shandong Province.

The Sunjia Site is located in Xihé Village, Huangshan Subdistrict Office, and is a plain high-ground site. It stretches approximately 300 meters from east to west and about 200 meters from north to south, covering a total area of around 60,000 square meters. The cultural deposit is 2 to 3 meters thick. Collected samples include fragments of Shang Dynasty li tripods, dou vessels, stone axes, and pottery shards decorated with cord marks. Artifacts from the Zhou Dynasty mainly consist of fragments of jars and urns, making it one of the few remaining Houli Culture sites in Shandong. In 1994, the site was designated as part of the third batch of key cultural heritage protection units in Zouping County (Document Zou Zheng Fa [1994] No. 98); in January 2009, it was listed as part of the second batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Binzhou City (Document Bin Zheng Fa [2009] No. 6). In October 2013, it was announced as part of the fourth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People's Government of Shandong Province (Document Lu Zheng Zi [2013] No. 204).

Huangshan Subdistrict: Huangshan Subdistrict is located in the central part of Zouping County, in the southern new district of the county seat. It serves as the location of the county government and is set to be the future political, cultural, and economic center. Covering an area of 45 square kilometers with a population of 30,000, it administers 4 management areas, 38 administrative villages, and 37 natural villages. [Historical Evolution] On November 15, 2002, the Shandong Provincial Government approved the revocation of Zouping Town in Zouping County and the establishment of three subdistrict offices—Daixi, Huangshan, and Gaoxin—based on the former administrative region of Zouping Town.
