Liu Jing Battle Site

The Liu Jing Battle Site is situated in Liujing Village, Weiqiao Town. It spans 65.5 meters from north to south and 30 meters from east to west, covering a total area of 1,965 square meters. In 1963, to honor the martyrs of the Eighth Route Army Shandong Column who lost their lives in the Liu Jing Battle, a martyrs' cemetery was built on the original battlefield site and was subsequently expanded and renovated in 1974. The cemetery includes a memorial monument that stands 5.38 meters tall, 1.85 meters wide, and 0.9 meters thick. The front of the monument bears the inscription “Though dead, those who die for the people shall live on in glory,” while the back reads “Those who sacrifice for the nation shall be immortal.” There are 73 martyrs’ tombs within the cemetery, interspersed with cypress trees. This site has become an important venue for revolutionary tradition education. In 1980, it was designated as one of the first batch of key cultural heritage protection units in Zouping County (document Zou Ge Fa [1980] No. 76).
