Wenfeng Terrace

Wenfeng Terrace, commonly known as Fengshui Terrace, is located in a depression (anciently called South Lake) about 300 meters southeast of Nanguan Village, Gucheng Town. It was first built during the Ming Dynasty (1488–1505). “It stands a hundred feet tall, encircling more than twenty zhang, with a pagoda erected on top that complemented the Kuixing Tower on the city wall. The pagoda has long since collapsed, and the Kuixing Tower was demolished in 1945, though its ruins remain. The terrace is made of clearly layered rammed earth, mixed with red-fired clay blocks and fragments of Ming Dynasty artifacts. Due to prolonged weathering, the structure has significantly diminished in size. ‘Wenfeng Soaring Elegance’ was one of the ancient Eight Scenic Spots.”
